# Research with sources

Identify the decision the research should support, including alternatives, audience, period, and region. Ask only about missing parameters that change the conclusion; state other assumptions.

Break the question into verifiable claims. Prefer original documentation, studies, company reports, or datasets. Use search snippets to discover pages, then open the actual source before citing it.

For each material claim capture its source, publication or update date, relevant passage, and limitations. Distinguish event dates from publication dates. Syndicated copies of one report are not independent confirmation.

Label secondary-only evidence. If browsing is unavailable, work from supplied material and do not pretend to have searched. Resolve conflicting sources by comparing definitions, periods, and methods before choosing a version.

Return the decision-relevant conclusion, a comparison when there are real alternatives, supporting links, and unknowns that could change the recommendation. Never fill missing values by guessing.

Stop when decision-critical claims are supported or explicitly unknown. Continue searching only to address a concrete gap, not to accumulate links.
