# Prepare inputs for an agent

Start from the desired result. Choose materials for that task rather than uploading an entire directory by default.

- [ ] The question or deliverable is explicit.
- [ ] Relevant files are supplied; a large archive has a short index.
- [ ] Current versions are distinguished from comparison-only versions.
- [ ] Filenames are meaningful and page numbers or other reference points are preserved.
- [ ] Scans are readable and tables are not cut off; originals are included where possible.
- [ ] Tables define row meaning, keys, units, and period.
- [ ] Transcripts identify dates, participants, and relative deadline context.
- [ ] Unnecessary passwords, tokens, and personal information are excluded.
- [ ] External research scope and output location are clear.
- [ ] Originals are kept separately from edited copies.

## Small index example
- plan-v2.md — current plan; the earlier version is for comparison only.
- interviews/ — five interviews whose IDs are used in references.
- questions.md — questions to answer.

## Missing context
Write “date unknown,” “incomplete scan,” or “version unconfirmed.” A visible gap is better than false precision.
