Write down assumptions
At the moment of a decision, we have an incomplete picture. Record the facts you rely on, the assumptions you make, and what you do not know. Later, you can assess the quality of your reasoning as well as the outcome.
Decide when to revisit
A decision does not have to last forever. Define in advance what observation would make you revisit it. This helps you avoid holding onto a plan simply because it exists, or changing direction after every random signal.
A useful result begins with a precise question.
